It’s time for the 35th Annual
WCCU Holiday Basketball Tournament!

 

On December 26, 27, 28, and 29, athletes from Chariho, South Kingstown, Stonington, and Westerly High Schools, JV & Varsity- boys & girls, will compete in a final four format for bragging rights to the Championship. Local rivalries and great competition over the years have made this event a time-honored tradition.

Keeping with tradition, WCCU continues to underwrite all Tournament expenses and donates all gate receipts to the (4) participating high school sports boosters. Since 1984, this event has allowed us to donate $223,369.13 to the local high schools!

Join us at the WCCU Holiday Basketball Tournament- help raise money for the Sports boosters- have a blast connecting with other alumni- cheer on the teams!

Trophy Facts:

In addition to the Championship Trophies, an all-tournament team consisting of five players and a most valuable player are selected for the Varsity and Junior Varsity tournaments.

The WCCU Basketball Tournament Boys Varsity MVP Award is named in honor of Mark Mitchell. Mark played in the tournament while attending SHS and later was a volunteer jv coach at SHS. He was the first firefighter in the history of the Pawcatuck Fire Department to die in the line of duty in 1994. WCCU honors his commitment and sacrifice by presenting the MVP Award in his name.

The WCCU Basketball Tournament Boys Varsity Sportsmanship Award is named in honor of Bob Bewlay. Bob, former WCCU Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, worked at the Credit Union for over 34 years. WCCU likes to honor his passion and commitment to the Credit Union by presenting the Sportsmanship Award in his name.
