Westerly Community Credit Union Donates $9,017.88 to Local High Schools’ Sports Boosters!
The Westerly Community Credit Union showed support for local athletes, sports programs and schools as they donated 100% of the proceeds from the 34th Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament to Chariho, Stonington, South Kingstown and Westerly High School Sports’ Boosters. Each school received a check for $2,254.47 for their basketball teams’ hard work, determination and participation in the tournament.
The 2017 tournament, which was held Dec. 26th, 27th, 28th & 29th raised a total of $9,017.88. The Westerly Community Credit Union is the sole sponsor of the tournament allowing 100% of the gate receipts to be divided between the Sports’ Boosters of the participating schools. This popular event has now raised $223,369.13 since the 1st tournament took place in 1984.
“WCCU has always been a very community-oriented institution,” stated Steve White, WCCU President & CEO. “We couldn’t be happier being the sole sponsor of this event for the past 34 years and raising money to help our communities’ young adults.”
