2025 WCCU Holiday Tournament 2025 Recap
CHS • SKHS • SHS • WHS

The WCCU Holiday Basketball Tournament once again brought local schools together for four days of competition, connection, and community spirit — and we’re proud to share the impact it made.
We'd like to congratulate all of the student-athletes who participated and extend a special thanks to those who helped make the tournament possible, including Westerly High School Athletic Director Jamey Vetelino, our honorary #TeamWCCU member, along with our staff and Board volunteers.
Thanks to the support of players, families, and fans, the tournament raised $13,617.05, with $3,405 going back to each participating school to support their athletic programs.
To all the fans who filled the stands — the Dawg Pound, Bears, The Herd, and Rebels — thank you for showing up and cheering on your teams. Your school spirit is what makes this tournament such a meaningful tradition.
We’re honored to continue supporting the schools and programs that bring our community together with Care You Can Bank On.
Beyond the funds raised, the tournament also recognized outstanding performances and leadership on and off the court.
One of those honors is the Joseph N. Cugini Community Service Award, which recognizes the legacy of the tournament’s founder and longtime WCCU leader. It recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate leadership, character, and a strong commitment to their school communities. The Cugini family also donates $100 in each recipient’s name to their school’s sports boosters. This year’s recipients are recognized in the varsity award listings below.
