The Westerly Community Credit Union reported a year of strong financial performance, continued growth, and meaningful community impact during their 2025 Annual Meeting held on Monday, March 23rd, 2026 at Evie’s Restaurant in Westerly, Rhode Island.
A brief review of the highlights from the year-end 2025 financial statements include:
-
Total assets increased 1.8% to $506 million
-
Member deposit balances grew 2.9% to $439 million
-
Loan balances increased 3.1% to $408 million an increase of 3.1%.
-
Net income for the year was $3.9 million, generating a Return on Average Assets of 0.78%.
The Credit Union’s performance in 2025 was driven by consistent loan demand resulting in $110 million in gross loans and lines of credit to support our members’ financial needs. The Credit Union returned $7.36 million in share and deposit interest to members, reinforcing the credit union mission of returning profits back to our members. As a result, the Credit Union finished the year with a regulatory net worth ratio, a measure of safety and soundness, of 9.30% maintaining a “Well Capitalized” status.
“Our success in 2025 reflects both strong financial performance and the trust our members place in us every day,” said Andrew Rogers, President and CEO of Westerly Community Credit Union. “As we look ahead, we remain focused on enhancing the member experience through innovation while staying true to the personal relationships and service that define who we are.”
Beyond financial performance, Mr. Rogers also reported that WCCU continued to demonstrate its deep commitment to the community. As part of their “WCCU Cares” initiatives during 2025, the Credit Union helped over 134 organizations through donations, fundraising, and sponsorships contributing nearly $250,000. In addition, the Board, Supervisory Committee members, and staff volunteered their time with 65 different organizations over the year.
Financial education continues to be a cornerstone of WCCU’s mission. This past year, the Credit Union continued to promote financial literacy within local schools by offering educational programs, such as the EverFi online Financial Education program and CU4Reality Budget program. More than 2,000 students participated in Credit Union-sponsored educational programs during the year. In addition to youth-focused initiatives, they expanded educational offerings for adults through Home Buying and Retirement Management seminars. New in 2025 was the introduction of a Financial Abuse Prevention seminar, reflecting their commitment to protecting and empowering members at every stage of life.
The Annual Meeting also marketing a significant transition in leadership. Board Chairperson Pete Stefanski honored the retirement of former President and CEO Stephen J. White and expressed his utmost confidence in the leadership of Andrew Rogers. Mr. Stefanski also highlighted the Credit Union’s robust financial stability, commending the organization for its ability to remain flexible and adapt to a rapidly changing world.
The credit union also remained committed to the community including support for local food banks, heating assistance programs and a $100,00 donation to the Tower Street Community Center. In addition, WCCU held its Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament in December and was pleased to donate $3,405 to each of the four participating high schools’ (Chariho, South Kingstown, Stonington, and Westerly) sports boosters’ organizations, a 24% increase from 2024. This raises the total amount donated to participating high schools since 1984 to over $300,000.
“As we continue to grow, our focus remains on delivering value to our members and making a positive impact in the communities we serve,” Rogers added. “We are proud of what we accomplished in 2025 and excited for what lies ahead.”
