WCCU holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for their new South Kingstown Operations Center and Branch!

Westerly Community Credit Union held an official ground breaking ceremony on August 9, 2017 for their new Operations Center and Branch, which will be located at 4979 Tower Hill Road in Wakefield, RI 02879.

Expected to be opened June 2018, the new Operations Center will be a 27,000 square foot facility, housing 36 employees with room for growth for the following departments: accounting, call center, human resources, lending services, marketing, and financial services. The new facility will include a 2,400 square foot Branch featuring a technology center, concierge-style stations, privacy offices, coffee area, and a kid's corner.

‘With leases expiring at our Ashaway Operations Center and our South County Commons Branch location, it made sense to combine them, saving our membership money in the long-term,’ stated Steve White, CEO and President of WCCU. ‘This branch location is more visible and convenient for our current and future membership, and positions us well for future growth in Washington County.’

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by honored guests such as Town Council Member- Bryant Da Cruz, South Kingstown's Town Manager- Stephen Alfred, Planning Director- Chelsea Siefert, and the Southern RI Chamber of Commerce Executive Director- Elizabeth Berman.  Also in attendance were representatives from the NES Group and TRAC Builders, as well as members of the WCCU Board of Directors and staff.

Words of thanks were given by William Horne, Chairperson of the WCCU Board of Directors. Stephen J. White, WCCU President and CEO, acknowledged those involved with the approval process and future construction of the facility. Finally, South Kingstown Town Council Member Bryant Da Cruz announced how happy the Council and the town of South Kingstown are to have WCCU locate its operations to their community and look forward to working together on future projects.
