WESTERLY, RI 8/5/2025– Westerly Community Credit Union is donating $100,000 to the Tower Street Community Center (TSCC) project, a groundbreaking nonprofit hub dedicated to health, wellness, and economic development in Southern Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut.
The Tower Street Community Center Board and Capital Campaign Committee have embarked on an ambitious initiative to create a unique multi-nonprofit, social services community center. This innovative building will be built in phases and bring expanded healthcare; dental services and integrated mental health; job training and employment opportunities; childcare; recreation; and critical social services to Southern RI and Eastern CT.
"WCCU is proud to support the Tower Street Community Center, an initiative that aligns perfectly with our commitment to community well-being and economic vitality," said Andrew Rogers, President of Westerly Community Credit Union. "This donation is an investment in the future of our region, ensuring that residents have access to comprehensive services that will truly make a difference in their lives."
The Tower Street Community Center project is built upon a collaborative foundation, featuring three "Anchor" organizations: Wood River Health (WRH), Westerly Education Center (WEC), and the Town of Westerly. These key partners will provide foundational services. Several smaller nonprofits will provide additional services which may include literacy training, STEM and afterschool/summer youth programs, parenting skills training, community gardens, and outdoor education, creating an all-inclusive and accessible resource for all.
“Wood River Health is excited to formalize our collaborative partnerships with the Town of Westerly and WEC through the Tower Street Community Center project,” said Alison Croke, President & CEO of Wood River Health. “Corporate donors like WCCU are critical to assist us in securing the funds to make this vision a reality”.
