History of Westerly Community Credit Union

Who are we?
Started in 1948, Westerly Community Credit Union (WCCU) has grown to a $323 million financial institution with over 19,600 members. Our members are served by 65 employees via 4 branches in RI; 2 in Westerly, 1 in Richmond, and 1 in Wakefield.

Westerly Community Credit Union is guided by a board of 10 member elected directors who serve three-year terms and represent the voice of all members between Annual Meetings.

Westerly Community Credit Union was awarded #1 Best Bank in the Westerly Sun’s 2017-2018-2019 and top 3 in 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards, Best Employer (2018) and "Spreadin' the Love" (2019 & 2020) community service awards by the Southern RI Chamber of Commerce Chamber Choice Awards, as well as PBN Providence Business News Best Places to Work 2018-2019.

How do we help our members achieve financial success?
By offering a full line of deposit & lending products at competitive rates with low-to-no fees. This includes a multitude of mortgage products and the best in high tech online services, such as: online mortgage & loan applications, Free eBanking with free bill pay, remote check deposit, eStatements, Bank to bank transfers, etc. We are also proud of our free, unique program called Take the Challenge that helps identify your financial goals, reviews your credit report, and starts a plan to help you reach those goals.

Community involvement is, and always will be, a strong focus of WCCU. Last year WCCU donated to over 150 local organizations, charities, and events. WCCU also supports local schools largely through our annual Basketball Tournament (solely sponsored since 1984), Teacher Grant Program, and financial literacy programs: Money Mammals Kids Club, CU4Reality Financial Literacy Fairs, and the Everfi and Cemark Online Financial Literacy Program (high schools).

Membership is available to anyone who lives or works in RI & New London County, CT and maintains a minimum balance of $5 in any deposit account (Holiday Club Accounts do not qualify). The Money Mammals Saving Money Is Fun Kids Club ©2015 Snigglezoo Entertainment. All Rights Reserved.
